Human Rights and some of its basic features
What are human rights?
Human rights are the basic rights or every human or every individual is entitled to regardless of their sex, gender, age, race and much more. Nobody can steal those rights from you because it is yours.
What are the basic human rights every human has?
Now, some say that there are 30 human rights while some say there are 5, however, basic human rights are common among all.
They include:
Everyone is free and equal. No one should be treated indifferently just because of their women. See women being catcalled on the street multiple times? Yeah, that’s not what they deserve. They deserve basic human decency and courtesy.
No discrimination: Okay so where do I start? This includes women not getting less wage, black people not being told abusive words, Asians not hated against because they “got coronavirus” and so much more.
Everyone has every right to be free, security and to live.
Nobody is allowed to be held in any kind of slavery.
Being inhuman is anyone is not at all what someone deserves.
There is a right to recognition everywhere as a person before any law.
Everyone should be entitled to zero discrimination and should be served equal protection of the law.
Everyone and I mean everyone has a right to an effective remedy.
No one should be subjected to any kind of detention, arrest or any kind of exile.
Everyone should be given the right to a fair and public hearing both by an impartial and independent tribunal.
Every single person is charged with a penal offence and so has the right to be seen as innocent until and only until charged guilty.
No one should be facing any interference with privacy, family home or any attacks on honour and reputation.
You are allowed to move freely and the right to have residence within the borders of every state.
You are free to not only seek but also enjoy the asylum of other countries.
Nobody should have to justify their nationality
These are just 15 articles stated in the United Nations declaration of human rights while you have 30 in total. Human rights can never end as a protest for everyone and everyone should be entitled to it. There are thousands and millions of people who still suffer to actually achieve them.
What is the LGBTQIA community?
The LGBTQIA community is basically lesbians, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersexual and asexual. Did you know that the first Gay organization was actually created in 1951 and lesbian organization in 1955? Yet, many are STILL discriminated and that is such a shame. When the UN human rights declaration clearly states that everyone should be entitled to zero discrimination and this should be regardless of someone’s sex, race, gender, age and much more. The first LGBTQ Disney character was actually Cyrus Goodman who actually announced the lines – “I’m gay” on the Disney channel itself.
What about gender discrimination?
As of right now, both men and women face discrimination on a very regular basis. Men are not allowed to roam around the house with any coloured nails, makeup, jewellery or even wear something that is considered “feminine”. While women who have been facing discrimination for years, are still facing it. Women are restricted to the idea of being something more than just a housewife sitting at home and making food for all the family members as if it’s their moral duty as the daughter-in-law of the house. Forget this, wage discrimination is still a thing. No matter if women have the same position in the same office, they will still end up getting a lower wage than most of our men.
Along with this, you have men being discriminated against as half of the times when they are raped, nobody is there to lend an ear to them and no such solutions or laws are implemented. Not only this but right now instead of the “me too” movement going on which was a huge problem for men as some of the women in the videos just claimed themselves as a victim even though the truth was something else, now we have the “not all men” where men claim it’s not all of them actually as the abusers when women accept that.
However, even though we accept “not all men” is true, in order to protect ourselves, we assume that all men are such sample cases. When you see an ocean of a shark, you’re going to go out of the ocean regardless of whether the shark will bite you or there are more marks, that’s the same situation here, except with men. If men can’t have conversations about it with females, we can’t be the change that we want to be because men are needed in the fight as much as women are needed. We are once again fighting for equality, not discrimination. Remember when women could start voting? That later became a victory achievement so why not make this a victory achievement as well?
However, I’m not saying give rights just to women and not men, The idea of feminism is not wrong however it has evolved with time and so its meaning changes. The idea of empowerment was not wrong but just women empowerment can’t be taking place, men need to be empowered on a daily basis too. We can’t just say we want gender equality without involving all genders on the spectrum in this idea.
Now when we talk about gender, we can’t just disclude transgender. They are also a thing. They also deserve to be heard because that’s the body they are the most comfortable being in. That’s who they identify themselves as. Some say gender isn’t important, it shouldn’t be when you look at a person however if we don’t look at gender at all, the problems will just keep arising and won’t be solved at any cost.
What can we do to ensure equality for all?
We can’t do anything official unless we have official protests going on, however, what we can do is we can start with our own homes. Support the women in your house who want to start a career and not just be a housewife sitting in their homes. If there is anyone around you who decides they want to be transgender, be with them and stand beside them during their surgery or at least outside the room. They need you and their loved ones. If ANYONE tells you they are raped, do not ignore them in any case. Listen to them. Help them get justice. These are small teeny tiny things that one can do to make a start of the human rights evolving. It’s high time we start taking proper actions to stop this fight from continuing cause the more the fight continues, it just means more and more problems are arising.
